Orchestra students around the county gathered at Blake High School to perform a piece of music for Solo and Ensemble, an event where students go to get judged and coaching on their playing of a solo or an ensemble. The event took place Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th.
Many students from Bloomingdale performed and got superior or excellent ratings, which are the highest scores.
“Its a great opportunity to get to go to another school and have professionals grade your performances. You get a chance to see other peers talents from different schools and get a little coaching too,” said Nick Brown. “My judge was really nice. He critiqued in a way that didn’t make me think my playing seem bad at all.”
A sophomore, Daniel Perez recalls, “The experience is nerve racking but in the end it was a lot of fun. Especially leaving, knowing you earned a superior rating.”
