Twin Lakes

Posted by Megan Smith On December - 14 - 2009

This past weekend on Saturday December 5th, Bloomingdale’s Chamber Orchestra and Newsome’s Elite Chorus perforemed at Twin Lakes to start off the holidays with some cheer. Many songs were heard, including How the Grinch Stole Christmas, All I want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth, and Frosty the Snowman. With such a wide variety of songs, most people were happy with the performance. A sophomore, Haley Broussard said, “I really liked All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth because all of the little kids started dancing around.”

The weather also cooperated that night, giving it a winter feeling.”By the time the night ended, most of the performers were freezing,” said junior Hiram Rios, “But it was a really fun experience and the audience seemed to like it so that’s good.”

Posted by Taylor MacDonald On December - 11 - 2009

On Tuesday, December 1st , the boy’s varsity basket ball team went against Armwood. The game was a home game, the game was suppose to start at 7:45 but didn’t start til 8 because Armwood was late which made the girls game run later.

Before the game, Tim Coffey and Justin Feist stepped outside and prayed. The whole team threw t-shirts into the crowd before the game.

The bulls worked together, and 12 out of the 15 players scored during the game. Which lead them to win 57-27 defeating the hawks.

After the game Kevin Albert,12, ” It was a good game for us and we were well prepared to play Armwood but one of the main factors in the game was our crowd was amazing and I think  it intimidated the hawks even more.”

How do you think the team will do this year with new Coach Joe Willis and losing seniors from last year. Tim Coffey, 12, said “ I feel like we are a better team this year, we had a lot more talent but we work well together and every guy knows his role. Our coach has adapted well and everyone likes him. We have accepted, and he has accepted us.”

Thanksgiving Soccer Tournament

Posted by Paul Snyder On December - 9 - 2009

Over Thanksgiving break the boys soccer team had a tournament at the Countryside fields in order to keep their skills sharp over the week without practicing together. Coach Troy Smith used the games like a pre- season tournament and gave everybody plenty of playing time almost like a tryout.

“I was excited about finally getting some minutes in an actual high school game and gaining the experience since I don’t dress for the season games,” said freshman Ryan Wilson.

The first game didn’t go well at all for the Bulls and the end result was a 4-1 defeat against East Lake High School. They were supposed to play a second game, but the game got cancelled becasue the other school called ahead and said they didn’t have enough players to field a team so they forfeited. In the third and final game the boys team put on a strong showing and beat Seminole High School 8-4.

“I was pleased with the overall effort displayed by the boys at the tournament, especially the younger guys,” commented Coach Troy Smith.

Cross Country Districts (week 10 article)

Posted by Paul Snyder On December - 9 - 2009

The season was coming to an end and it was time for the district championship race for the cross country team. The season started out looking promising for the team, but halfway through the season they lost two juniors who helped gain many points each and every race. Unfortunately, Paul Pandl, junior captain, was also unable to attend the districts race because he had been sick the previous three weeks.

“I was really disappointed that I had to miss the race because all year I had been planning on reaching the regional race and possibly states, but that kind of fell through the ceiling once I got sick,” said junior Paul Pandl.

The race went well seeing that there were no upperclassmen running for Bloomingdale and it was most of the runners’ first district race. Two of the top three runners were freshmen so the next few years to come look hopeful for Coach Beach.

Foster Angels

Posted by Matt Yeatts On December - 4 - 2009

Each year, Mme Richardson’s French Club supports the Foster Angels charity program, and participants have the opportunity to make a young child smile.

The program assigns each person to a foster child. They get a card with general information about that child, such as their name and age. The donors use this knowledge to prepare boxes of items, and Angels sends them to their recipients.

Common donations include clothing, toys, or books. However, being assigned a specific person makes it possible to compose boxes that appeal to them especially. For example, many would say that a doll would be an appropriate gift for a seven-year-old girl, or a picture book for a kindergartener learning how to read.

These children, who may not always be the happiest, get their precious moments of joy when they open up a package and see that someone, somewhere, cares about them enough to have taken the time to prepare it just for them.

The Tennis Game

Posted by Jeff Jolly On December - 4 - 2009

Tuesday was a big day in the world of Wii Tennis. A big match happened between two, two person teams, Team Awesome and another team that I don’t know the name of. There was a lot of trash talking before the game, references to steroid use, and a lot of other loud ruckus that was hard to take notes of.

When the day of the match came both teams were equally over dramatically  dressed and pumped. A huge crowd of celebrities even came out to watch, including Tom Cummings, Mr Saviet, and Mr. Hornamen. Tension was overwhelming before the match, mostly because the Rock, Paper, Scissors match between Cummings and I. I won with Rock in the seventh throw.

As the match kicked off it was obvious from the start how the game would go. Team Awesome hit it to the other team. The other team hit it back. Team Awesome hit it back again, and so on and so forth. Then I won my game of Spider Solitaire with a score of 1194, only six points away from the high score!

Overall one of the teams, I’m not sure which except that it was Noelle Miller’s team, won 2-0. I couldn’t see most of the match because I was in the back, so I can’t give too many details other than it was a riveting match. The other team took the crushing defeat surprisingly well considering they were just embarrassed in front of an entire class of underclassmen.

During the post game press conference more loud ruckus was made, with little importance. A few comments were made about the winning teams training strategies, which included vigorous training on the Wii Sports game at their homes. The highlights of the day included my defeat of Cummings, my victory in Solitaire, and the end of the the Wii game so I could go back to sleep.
