Spanish Honor Society inducted their new members with the traditional candle lit ceremony and club President Robert Gordon leading the speeches.

The induction ceremony is led completely by the existing club members while the sponsors, Mrs. Wellman and Mrs. Cabrera proudly watch with the parents in the crowd. Students become eligible for Spanish Honor Society after their second year of the foreign language as long as they’re in Spanish 3 or above.

Junior Daniel Migowski said, “I took a third year of spanish so I would be inducted into the honor society because it looks good on my college transcript.”

The ceremony consists of new inductees adding their names to the long list of past members and receiving their certificate of accomplishment and then stepping back into their rows to recite their promise to the club.

“It was a good thing we didn’t have to memorize the lines because just repeating what Robert said was tough,” said sophomore Cormac McCarthy.
