On Monday, October 19th, the girls golf team traveled to Heritage Isles Golf Course to compete in the 2A-11 district tournament. They golfed against ten teams, including rivals Durant and Newsome. The team came in 7th, with a score of 472, just eight strokes behind Newsome. The first place score was 334 belonging to Durant.

“I am proud of every one of them,” Said girls Coach Harris. “They are the most energetic and cooperative team I’ve ever coached.”

The boys team fared a little bit better, finishing in fourth place. They were a mere two strokes behind Newsome and a third place finish. In first place was Riverview, scoring 329 on their home course. Individuals from Bloomingdale that qualified for regionals were Jeremy Walker and Griffin Isabel.

“We were pretty big underdogs going into the season,” Said junior Jeremy Walker, who shot an 84. “It was a great accomplishment, I’ve been working all my high school career for this.” He said, when asked about qualifying for regionals.

EFGOLF 004This Tuesday, Bloomingdale faced off against East Bay at the ultimate game of precision and focus: golf, winning their first game of the season. The two teams played on the fairway at the Bloomingdale Country Club at 3 p.m. The boys won 169 to 186, and the girls won 215 to 225.

Both teams scored their rec0rd low of the year. Jeremy Walker, a junior, shot a 39 that afternoon, taking the lowest score out of anyone on either guy’s team. Katie Young was the star of the girls team, taking home a 48.

“The team most definitely put forth great effort,” Coach Nancy Harris said. “They did the best they’ve ever done this year, girls and boys.”

However, it wouldn’t have been their best if it weren’t for juniors Katie Young and Jeremy Walker.

“I guess it felt pretty good to be the star of the team,” said Jeremy Walker.

GOLF2As a new year begins so do the new seasons for sports teams. Golf is one of these teams. Many students and faculty members are excited for this years golf team.

” [The] Golf team’s looking good this year. A lot of hard hitters, new clubs, and a lot of dedication,” said Junior Ben Daniel.

A lot of students are pretty excited to see their friends preform out on the course as well. They know how hard their friends work to get where they are. Spending countless hours at the driving range, mini putt putt, and most likely Wii Golf.

” Griffen Isabel is the next Tiger Woods, and BrandonPlacke is the next Vijaye Singh,” said Senior Nick Moore.

This season we can count on our Bulls to represent our school well out there. They’re making sure they’re caddy’s pack their A-game in with their clubs!

Golf vs. Plant City

On Tuesday, September 1st, the boys and girls varsity golf teams competed against Plant City High School. The match was held at Bloomingdale Golfer’s Club, their first of the season. Throughout the entire match, a light but steady drizzle dampened the course, and made the game much more difficult.

The girls team came up short, but put forth a great effort. However, the boys team was able to pull off a victory, even in the poor conditions.

“I’m very proud of them,” said Head Coach Nancy Harris. “We are looking forward to Thursday’s match versus Plant.”

Coach Harris is coaching her first season here at Bloomingdale, but was an assistant coach at Durant for four years prior to this.

“I think we did really well,” said Junior Ty Hadden, who shot a 52. “I was very happy with the outcome of the match.”

The boys and girls have their next match Thursday, versus Plant High School.
