Posted by Darius Mack On September - 18 - 2009

September, 13, at 9 o’clock P.M. was the premiere of MTV’s 2009 Video Muscic Awards. This years theme was West Side Story and it was a tribute to the Ledgendary King of Pop; Michael Jackson, and was hosted by British comedian Russell Brand.

The night started of with a speech from Madonna, then right after was a tribute performance by Janet Jackson to her brother.

Other performances included Beyonce, Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys, Katy Perry with Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Greenday, P!nk, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.

There was a bit of  drama at the VMA’s when Taylor Swift won a moon man for ”Best Female Music Video”. Kanye West did not feel that Taylor deserved the award and believed that Beyonce’s music video was better. West got out of his seat, walked up to the stage, interupted Taylor in the begining of her speech, took her microfone away from her, and said “Beyonce had one of the best music videos in history”. Taylor did not even ge to finish her speech she just walked of the stage. Kanye West was kicked out of the award show for his outburst.

lilwayneOn Saturday October 5th, at the Ford Amphitheater, a highly anticipated Lil Wayne concert tour finally came to Tampa.

In addition to Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, and Young Jeezy, the concert featured artists such as Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz, Lil Chuckee, Lil Twist, Tyga, T-Streets, Shanell, Mack Maine, and  Nikki Minaj, who were all artists on Lil Wayne’s record label Young Money Entertainment.

“My favorite performance was Lil Wayne because he not only performed the most, but the way he performed made the concert so live!” said junior, Diamond Howard. “But the environment was very loud, over crowded, and busy.”

“My favorite performer was definitely Nikki Minaj.” Said junior Tierra Theaker, who had front row tickets. ”But I absolutley love Soulja Boy. The atmosphere was very cloudy, however it was lots of fun for every one. Overall, I had the best time ever, it was the best concert I’ve ever been to.”
